Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Student Hourly Academic Tutor to join reputed company at the University of Kansas. As a Student Hourly Academic Tutor, you will provide personalized support to reputed company in need of extra literacy and numeracy instruction, promoting their confidence and interest in reading and mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to reputed company in literacy (pre-K through elementary) and numeracy (K through 9th grade) at the Lawrence Public Library.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• Qualify for and accept Federal Work Study to become a tutor.
• Have reliable transportation to and from the Lawrence Public Library.
• Be enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or be enrolled in summer session or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester (for summer periods).
• Be an undergraduate or graduate student (exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
• Be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours if continuing into the fall semester.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with children in schools, camps, or other settings.
• Interest and passion for working with children in pre-Kindergarten through grade nine.
• Self-motivation and a desire to go "above and reputed company" to promote student learning.
• Responsibility and personal accountability for completing tasks; attention to details and deadlines.
• Elementary or Middle/Secondary Education major.
• Commitment to working through the academic year, with the option to work through the summer.
