Principal Engineer - Global Chemical Substance (GCS) (Remote)

About the position Do you have a passion for helping reputed company Collins’ products greener while ensuring we meet changing customer and regulatory compliance requirements? The Avionics Global Chemical Substance team has an opening for a senior level engineer to ensure Avionics products are in full compliance with reputed company global chemical regulations. This position reports under the Avionics Global Chemical Substance Program Manager and will reputed company various analysis functions for regulatory reporting and risk mitigation activities. As a Principal Engineer you will serve as a technical resource to Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and Supply Chain in support of reputed company global chemical regulation’s requirements. You also support the Avionics team with customers’ inquiries about global chemical regulation compliance. The primary area of responsibility will be to work closely with the engineering in Burnsville, Minnesota where many aircraft sensors are designed and built. The candidate must have good data analysis skills to reputed company analysis of any Collins design relative to many different global chemical regulations. Growth opportunities for this role exist in learning more about Collins’ products, chemical regulatory compliance, interacting with a group of roles across Collins. This role will have primary responsibility for the Burnsville, Minnesota site but working remotely is an option for the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Avionics products reputed company with environmental requirements such as EU and UK reputed company (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) and the US Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)
• Analyze Collins design data relative to a variety of environmental regulations
• Drive product redesigns as necessary to reputed company with regulatory restrictions
• Establish design standards and integrate into Avionics design and development processes to reputed company with environmental regulations and customer requirements and to promote design for sustainability practices
• Support program/product line and site teams in responding to customer inquiries on environmental regulations and customer requirements
• Engage stakeholders through training and communication using a variety of forums such as meetings, discipline councils, communities of practice, newsletters and websites
• This position may require occasional travel

Requirements

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a reputed company field and minimum 5 years of experience
• Familiarity with chemical composition
