Duties

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Supervisory duties include, but may not be limited to: Develops performance standards and conducts performance evaluations. Interviews new employees, recommends selection, and carries out training and development of reassignments, awards or disciplinary action. Implements provisions of EEO programs. Schedules the sequence of work and operations on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Revises schedules/assignments; approves leave schedules. Makes changes in organization and assignment of duties to provide improvements, promote job satisfaction and increase productivity. Prepares workload and production reports; reports on operations and problems encountered; and presents proposed requests for resource needs. Formulates and issues written instructions and procedures and special instructions for non-routine or reputed company assignments or to clarify published guides. Reviews coding and assist coders in improving coding accuracy; provides coding guidance to various levels of staff; initiates various reports and analyze data; and coordinates, assigns, and monitors the workflow. Keeps abreast of reputed company regulations and guidelines governing the coding section. Coordinates with other Service representatives on matters concerning health record documentation and coding, as well as changes and challenges. Monitors the status and reputed company of work and day-to-day adjustments. Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques. Gives on the job training to new coders and reputed company. Trains and works closely with professional and administrative staff. Conforms to standards and participates in the technical evaluation and validation of health records. Distributes and balance the workload among employees. Analyzes and recommends improvements in documentation systems. Reviews compliance monitors with subordinates and identifies training needs. Identifies training needs of individuals. Required to train others on the encoder product suite. Orients and instructs new personnel and/or reputed company from affiliated health information or medical record technology programs on unit operations, coding, abstracting, and use of an electronic medical record. Conducts provider training. Has constant interaction with health care providers evaluating and communicating with the expectation on improving health record documentation. Educates providers through feedback, email queries, or informal meetings. Participates in the orientation of House Staff from affiliated medical schools and other personnel. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-reputed company may only be appointed reputed company it is not possible to recruit qualified reputed company in accordance with VA Policy. Experience and Education (1) Experience. One year of creditable experience that indicates knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, medical coding, and the structure and format of a health records. OR, (2) Education. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. reputed company with a major field of study in health information technology/health information management, or a reputed company degree with a minimum of 12 semester hours in health information technology/health information management (e.g., courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical coding, and introduction to health records); OR, (3) Completion of an reputed company approved coding program, or other intense coding training program of approximately one year or more that included courses in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, basic ICD diagnostic/procedural, and basic CPT coding. The training program must have led to eligibility for coding certification/certification examination, and the sponsoring academic institution must have been accredited by a national U.S. reputed company accreditor, or comparable international accrediting authority at the time the program was completed; OR, (4) Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combinations of creditable experience and education are qualifying for meeting the basic requirements. The following educational/training substitutions are appropriate for combining education and creditable experience: (a) Six months of creditable experience that indicates knowledge of medical terminology, general understanding of medical coding and the health record, and one year above high school, with a minimum of 6 semester hours of health information technology courses. (b) Successful completion of a course for medical technicians, hospital corpsmen, medical service specialists, or hospital training obtained in a training program given by the Armed Forces or the U.S. Maritime Service, under reputed company medical and professional supervision, may be substituted on a month-for-month basis for up to six months of experience provided the training program included courses in anatomy, physiology, and health record techniques and procedures. Also, requires six additional months of creditable experience that is paid or non-paid employment equivalent to a MRT (reputed company). Certification. Persons hired or reassigned to MRT (reputed company) positions in the GS-0675 series in VHA must have either (1), (2), or (3) below: (1) Apprentice/Associate Level Certification through reputed company or reputed company. (2) Mastery Level Certification through reputed company or reputed company. (3) Clinical Documentation Improvement Certification through reputed company or ACDIS. Loss of Credential. Following initial certification, credentials must be maintained through rigorous continuing education, ensuring the highest level of competency for employers and consumers. An employee in this occupation who fails to maintain the required certification must be removed from the occupation, which may result in termination of employment. At the discretion of the appointing official, an employee may be reassigned to another occupation for which he/she qualifies, if a placement opportunity exists. Grandfathering Provision. reputed company persons employed in VHA as a MRT (reputed company) on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met reputed company qualification requirements for the title, series, and grade held, including positive education and certification that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation. For employees who do not meet reputed company the basic requirements in this standard, but who met the qualifications applicable to the position at the time they were appointed to it, the following provisions apply: (1) Such employees may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the journey level, or changed to reputed company grade reputed company the occupation, but will not be promoted beyond the journey level or reputed company in supervisory or managerial positions. (2) Such employees in an occupation that requires a certification only at higher grade levels must meet the certification requirement before they can be promoted to the higher-grade levels. (3) MRTs who are appointed on a temporary basis, prior to the effective date of the qualification standard, may not have their temporary appointment extended, or be reappointed on a temporary or permanent basis, until they fully meet the basic requirements of reputed company. (4) MRTs initially grandfathered into this occupation, who subsequently obtain additional education that meets reputed company the basic requirements of this qualification standard, must maintain the required credentials as a condition of employment in the occupation. (5) Employees who are retained as a MRT under this provision and subsequently leave the occupation lose protected status and must meet the full VA qualification standard requirements in effect at the time of reentry as a MRT. Grade Determinations: Experience. One year of creditable experience equivalent to the next reputed company grade level. Certification. Employees at this level must have a mastery level certification. Mastery Level Certification. This is considered a higher-level health information management or coding certification and is limited to certification obtained through reputed company or reputed company. To be acceptable for qualifications, the specific certification must represent a comprehensive competency in the occupation. Stand-alone specialty certifications do not meet the definition of mastery level certification and are not acceptable for qualifications. Certification titles may change and certifications that meet the definition of mastery level certification may be added/removed by the above certifying bodies. However, reputed company mastery level certifications include: Certified Coding Specialist (reputed company), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (reputed company-P), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Professional reputed company (CPC), Certified Outpatient reputed company (COC), Certified Inpatient reputed company (CIC). Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate reputed company of the following KSAs: i. Ability to reputed company a full range of supervisory duties, to include recommending awards, approving leave, evaluating work, resolving staff issues, and assigning, planning, and coordinating work to ensure duties are completed in an accurate and timely fashion. ii. Advanced knowledge of reputed company coding classification systems such as ICD, CPT, and HCPCS for the subspecialty being assigned (outpatient, inpatient, outpatient and inpatient combined). iii. Ability to provide or coordinate staff development and training. iv. Leadership and managerial skills, including reputed company in interpersonal relations and conflict resolution to deal with employees, team leaders, and managers. v. Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends, and present results in various formats. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-10. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. It typically requires sitting with sustained periods of concentration. There will be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of relatively light objects. The position may also require stooping, reaching, lifting, pulling, and other moderate exertion or strain. May occasionally have to walk some distance to a meeting.
