• JOB GOALS:

To support the delivery of School District 91?s written, taught, tested, and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. Provide effective communication between the school, the District, the student?s family, and appropriate public agencies. Provide oral and written communication from Spanish/English and vice-versa for various meetings, documents, and activities.

• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as an interpreter of Spanish and English at a wide variety of meetings (including but not limited to, Family and Community Engagement meetings and, parent conferences).
• Assists Spanish-speaking reputed company and their families with communication involving a wide variety of school processes (including but not limited to, registration, attendance, child nutrition, health services).
• Translates orally from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English during telephone calls and returns calls to Spanish speaking families.
• Verifies translations made by others for the purpose of reviewing and editing materials for accuracy, context, readability, grammar, and style.
• Interprets and translates objectively and with accuracy, including idiomatic materials and conversations to/from English and Spanish for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of information.

• TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is scheduled for 19 hours a week during the school year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 - $15.32 or $16.08 per hour. This is an ?at will? position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The ?employment at will? policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. VIII. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board?s policy on evaluation of personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
