Electrical Engineer - Arc Flash Modeling Support (Part Time)

Title: Contract Electrical Engineer – Arc Flash Modeling Support (Part-Time) Location: Remote (Preference for local candidates to Indianapolis-occasional onsite travel required 1x/month) Hire Type: Contract Target Pay Rate: $70.00 – $90.00/hour (depending on experience) Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical/Dental/Vision (if applicable based on contract structure) Must Have Skill Set: Strong experience with SKM modeling software (arc flash studies required) Experience maintaining electrical system / arc flash databases Knowledge of arc flash analysis and labeling High attention to detail with data accuracy and integrity Ability to manage multiple ad-hoc requests independently Strong communication skills in a remote environment Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a large-scale arc flash modeling database on a part-time contract basis. This role focuses on maintaining database integrity, updating electrical models, and supporting ongoing operational requests using SKM software. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, experienced in arc flash modeling, and comfortable working independently in a flexible, part-time environment. Job Duties:

  • Process arc flash label printing requests accurately and in a timely manner
  • Update and maintain data within a large electrical arc flash modeling database
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of arc flash models
  • Support updates such as equipment data changes, protective device settings, and one-line diagram revisions
  • Collaborate remotely with electrical engineering teams to support database management
  • Follow established engineering standards, procedures, and templates
  • Manage multiple incoming requests while maintaining high-quality output

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with SKM software for arc flash modeling and studies
  • Experience working with large electrical system databases
  • Understanding of arc flash standards and electrical system modeling
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a part-time, remote environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
