Kubernetes Networking Platform Engineer Location: Remote, Bethesda, MD Duration: 12 months Job Summary: Seeking for a Kubernetes Networking Platform Engineer to lead the design, delivery, and operation of networking capabilities across our enterprise Kubernetes platform. Work with critical components such as ingress controllers, service mesh, DNS, and traffic management. Help us build a secure, scalable, and observable networking layer that enables seamless connectivity for application teams. Core Work Activities:

  • Design, build, and operate Kubernetes networking capabilities including ingress, service mesh, and DNS.
  • Develop standardized, self-service networking patterns for application teams.
  • Implement traffic routing strategies like canary deployments and blue/green releases.
  • Ensure secure communication through network policies and zero-trust principles.
  • Continuously improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues and drive root cause analysis.
  • Partner with security and platform teams to define networking standards.
  • Build automation tools to improve developer experience.
  • Maintain clear documentation for platform users.

Candidate Profile: Must Have:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of technology experience, with 3 years in platform or systems engineering.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking components like Ingress controllers and service mesh technologies.
  • Experience designing and operating highly available, distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to implement Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform and Helm.
  • Strong collaboration and documentation skills.
  • Comfort using AI-powered development tools for acceleration and troubleshooting.

Preferred:

  • Experience with high-level programming languages (Go, Python, Java).
  • Deep understanding of Layer 4/Layer 7 networking concepts.
  • Experience operating service mesh at scale.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native networking integrations.
  • Experience with observability tooling for network and service performance.
