Lead Civil Site Engineer

Leidos is in search of a Lead Civil Site Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with professionals across various engineering disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing civil infrastructure for high-voltage utility projects for Leidos’ clients. This position will be part of our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to developers, construction contractors and electric utilities. You can look forward to collaborative and flexible work hours/work arrangements, as well as managers who will encourage career development and growth opportunities, including: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Leadership training & Management opportunities Formal Mentorship programs Professional Development & Continuing Education Resources Technical Upskilling programs Primary Responsibilities: Lead design reviews across: Site layout, grading & drainage design, Stormwater modeling & design, Erosion & sediment control design, Access road design, Utility coordination & design, Retaining wall layout & design Drive quality assurance for civil components of substation projects, ensuring designs meet safety and performance standards. Collaborate with other technical disciplines for complex multidisciplinary projects.Oversee bid and construction package development, maintaining alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget. Act as lead engineer on client projects, providing technical oversight and ensuring deliverables exceed expectations. Represent Leidos in client-facing engagements such as kick-off meetings, lunch-and-learns, and industry events. Conduct site visits to projects including new developments, substation facilities, transmission lines, and more, applying field insights to strengthen design and execution. Champion quality control and safe work practices, embedding compliance and reliability into every project. As an experienced engineer, you can also expect to take part in coaching, guiding and reviewing work of less experienced team members, fostering technical growth and a collaborative team culture Required Qualifications: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 7 years of directly applicable civil-site design experience Proven Experience as an engineer of record or lead engineer on projects performing QC reviews Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software (preferred) and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software. Experience with Hydraflow and various other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling & design programs Ability to execute projects and handle client interaction successfully with limited supervision Experience with high-voltage substation projects is highly preferred Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools Strong analytical and technical writing skills. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer License. Experience leading projects and collaborating with IOU utility clients, construction contractors, and materials-procurement teams on Design‑Build or Engineer‑Procure‑Construct projects for substations, renewables, datacenters and energy storage systems.
