Medical Surg RN / Internal Travel Team

About the position Emory Healthcare is seeking a capable Medical Surgical Registered Nurse / RN for the Internal Travel Team. This role involves travel between four (4) to ten (10) Emory locations within Emory Healthcare. The internal travel nursing team offers a flexible program, allowing team members to tailor their work/life balance. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in patient care, a sound understanding of a particular patient population, and the ability to routinely use acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. The role requires delivering safe, dependable, and effective care independently utilizing the nursing process, applying the Synergy Model for Care, and personalizing care for each patient/family. Effective and respectful communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams, accurate documentation, and utilizing patient/family input in care planning are essential. The nurse will evaluate patient responses to care, adjust plans as needed, advocate for patients based on their condition, and consider cultural differences in patient and family relationships.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe, dependable and effective care to a patient population independently utilizing the nursing process
• Able to apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice, and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family
• Communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the healthcare team
• Documents the nursing process accurately and in the appropriate format (e.g. computer, clinical pathway, chart)
• Utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care
• Evaluates patient's response to planned care and adjusts plan of care as appropriate.
• Recognizes needs and advocates for patient based on knowledge of condition
• Recognizes that cultural differences need to be considered in developing patient and family relationships (focus on identifying cultural norms)

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• 2.5 years of recent and relevant nursing experience in Medical Surgical within past five years
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, FHM (relevant to role) required.
• Completion of professional certification in relevant specialty area required within 1 year of employment.
