Remote medical biller needed — CA Workers' Comp, Medicare Part B & DME, commercial PPO - Contract to Hire

We are a busy upper extremity specialty practice with two locations in Southern California seeking an experienced remote medical biller. This is a fully remote position, approximately 20–30 hours per week.. We are open to hiring an independent contractor (1099) or a full-time employee (W-2) depending on your situation. California Workers' Compensation billing experience is required. Please do not apply without it. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: California Workers' Compensation: fee schedule billing, denials, appeals, reconsiderations, A/R follow-up, lien tracking, utilization review and authorizations Commercial insurance: PPO billing, prior authorizations, denials, appeals, timely filing, A/R follow-up Medicare Part B: professional billing, LCD/NCD criteria, ABN documentation, redeterminations and reconsiderations Medicare DME/DMEPOS: HCPCS coding, CMN and DIF documentation, Noridian MAC submissions, DME appeals and redeterminations WHAT YOU'LL DO: Submit clean claims across all payer types accurately and on time Work denied and rejected claims; draft and track appeals and reconsiderations Proactive A/R follow-up to minimize aged balances Manage prior authorization requests and renewals Post payments and reconcile EOBs and ERAs Communicate with payers, WC adjusters, and attorneys as needed Flag billing trends affecting reimbursement Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 3 years medical billing experience; outpatient therapy or orthopedic specialty preferred CA Workers' Compensation billing experience required (non-negotiable) Able to work independently and manage a full billing cycle without supervision Proficient with CPT coding for therapy, evaluation, and splinting/orthoses Experience with billing software (WebPT, Therabill, Kareo, or similar) Strong written communication for appeals and payer correspondence Must be available during Pacific Time hours CPC, CPB, or equivalent certification a plus TO APPLY: Please include a brief summary of your CA Workers' Compensation and Medicare billing experience, your preferred engagement type (1099 or W-2), your rate or salary expectation, and your availability to start.
