Senior Category Manager, IT Procurement

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Category Manager with expertise in IT procurement to lead strategic sourcing and category management for technology-related goods and services. This is a key remote role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive category strategies that align with the organization's technology roadmap and business objectives. The Senior Category Manager will drive significant cost savings, manage supplier relationships, and mitigate risks within the IT procurement portfolio. Primary responsibilities include conducting in-depth market analysis, identifying sourcing opportunities, and leading complex negotiations for software, hardware, telecommunications, and IT services. You will develop and implement category plans, establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for suppliers, and monitor their performance to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to contractual obligations. The role requires close collaboration with IT leadership and business stakeholders to understand future technology needs and translate them into effective procurement strategies. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage large, complex IT procurement categories and influence cross-functional teams. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into procurement strategies is highly desirable. You will also be responsible for identifying and implementing best practices in IT procurement, including contract management, vendor risk management, and sustainability initiatives. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a strong advantage. A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 4 years focused specifically on IT procurement and category management, is essential. Proven experience in negotiating enterprise-level IT agreements is a must. This is a fully remote position supporting our organization from Richmond, Virginia, US .
