Aviation Communications Transcriber (ATC)

Worldwide Salaried Open

About The Role We're building next-generation AI systems for aviation and autonomous flight — and we need people who actually speak the language of the skies. If you understand aviation radio communications, this is a rare opportunity to put that knowledge to work on cutting-edge AI research. This is not generic transcription work. This role requires real familiarity with ATC phraseology, callsigns, and the fast-paced, noisy reality of real-world radio communications.

  • Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox)
  • Type: Hourly / Task-Based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe real-world Air Traffic Control (ATC) and pilot audio recordings with precision
  • Label speakers, callsigns, instructions, and responses accurately
  • Capture aviation-specific terminology, abbreviations, and phraseology correctly
  • Complete task-based assignments on your own schedule
  • Maintain high quality and accuracy standards — your work directly impacts aviation AI safety

Who You Are This role is a great fit if you are:

  • A pilot, student pilot, Air Traffic Controller, or other aviation professional
  • An aviation enthusiast who regularly listens to and understands ATC communications
  • Someone with strong familiarity with standard aviation radio phraseology
  • Extremely detail-oriented and patient with audio work
  • Able to work independently and meet accuracy standards consistently

You don't need to be a professional transcriptionist — but you do need to genuinely understand how aviation communications work.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LiveATC or similar ATC audio platforms
  • Background in aviation operations, dispatch, or flight instruction
  • Familiarity with ICAO or FAA communication standards
