[Remote] Information Systems Security Engineer, Junior

They are seeking a Junior Information Systems Security Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure information systems in a federal environment, while collaborating with senior engineers on mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing and maintaining system security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and agency security policies Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, including documentation, security control implementation, and system authorization activities Help prepare and maintain security documentation such as SSPs, POA&Ms, and security assessment reports Participate in security testing and vulnerability assessments, including remediation tracking Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and ISSOs to ensure security requirements are integrated into system designs Monitor system compliance and support continuous monitoring activities Assist in identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities Skills 1+ year of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or related IT field Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field Understanding of core cybersecurity principles such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad) Familiarity with RMF, NIST standards, and security best practices DoD 8570/IAT Level II certification or equivalent (e.g., Security+) Active Top Secret clearance required CISSP certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain Knowledge of FISMA, FedRAMP, or DoD cybersecurity requirements Exposure to vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., ACAS, Nessus) Basic knowledge of networking, operating systems, and cloud security concepts Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills Benefits Employee Ownership Your contributions directly impact the company’s success, and you share in its achievements.
