Role Overview – Customer Experience Engineer (Observability & SLOs)

We are seeking a highly motivated, customer‑obsessed Customer Experience Engineer to join the arenaflex Cloud Customer Experience (CXP) team. In this role, you will design, implement, and operate Service Level Objective (SLO) monitoring solutions that ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of mission‑critical applications hosted on the arenaflex Cloud. You will work closely with customers, service engineering teams, and product groups to translate business goals into measurable reliability targets, detect breaches proactively, and drive continuous improvement across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Collaboration: Partner with customers to define and formalize SLOs and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) that align with their business objectives and contractual agreements.
  • Instrumentation & Measurement: Embed instrumentation in customer workloads and arenaflex services to capture SLO‑related metrics, develop automated detection of SLO breaches, and create real‑time dashboards.
  • Automation & Remediation: Build automated remediation workflows, troubleshooting guides, and self‑service tools that help customers resolve or mitigate SLO violations quickly.
  • Cross‑Team Integration: Work hand‑in‑hand with service engineering, platform reliability, and product teams to correlate customer‑defined SLOs with internal platform SLOs, enabling rapid root‑cause analysis and coordinated response.
  • Proactive Engagement: Conduct regular reviews of SLO performance with customers, surface insights, and recommend optimizations to exceed expectations.
  • Data‑Driven Improvement: Analyze historical SLO data to identify trends, reliability risks, and opportunities for architectural enhancements; propose and drive remediation plans.
  • Performance Optimization: Lead initiatives to improve system scalability, latency, and efficiency, ensuring that both arenaflex services and customer workloads consistently surpass defined SLO thresholds.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for customer‑specific SLOs, SLIs, monitoring configurations, and best‑practice guides; mentor junior engineers on observability best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing, implementing, debugging, and launching commercial software products or web services.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) within a cloud environment (arenaflex Cloud, AWS, or GCP).
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating, managing, and evolving Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for enterprise‑grade cloud customers.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an external client‑facing role, with a track record of building trusted relationships and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, PowerShell) to develop instrumentation, automation, and monitoring solutions.
  • Proficiency with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, OpenTelemetry) and experience building alerting pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences.
  • Eligibility to meet arenaflex, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the arenaflex Cloud background check.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Experience

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, combined with 6+ years of software industry experience.
  • Or a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in cloud technologies, reliability engineering, or large‑scale distributed systems.
  • Deep familiarity with SLO‑driven reliability models, error budgeting, and capacity planning.
  • Experience building large‑scale automation frameworks for incident response, post‑mortem analysis, and continuous improvement loops.
  • Prior work in a fast‑paced, start‑up‑like environment where rapid iteration, innovation, and ownership are expected.
  • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified SRE Professional, or similar recognitions.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex reliability data, identify root causes, and propose strategic solutions.
  • Customer Obsession: A relentless focus on delivering value to customers, anticipating their needs, and exceeding their expectations.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Proven ability to work across functional boundaries, influence without authority, and drive consensus.
  • Automation First: Passion for building self‑service tools that reduce manual toil and accelerate resolution.
  • Adaptability: Comfort thriving in an environment that evolves quickly, with shifting priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Communication Excellence: Clear, concise, and persuasive communication style for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

arenaflex offers a competitive total rewards package that includes:
