The consultant will ensure the accurate and timely processing of US and Canadian payroll, which includes handling new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and benefits adjustments. Additionally, the role involves processing involuntary deductions, such as garnishments and court-ordered payments, as well as manual payments and ACH transactions. Record-keeping is another essential duty, where the consultant will prepare and maintain meticulous records and reports of payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with record-keeping standards and best practices. The Senior Payroll Consultant will also ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, as well as adherence to best practices in both the USA and Canada. Facilitating audits by preparing and providing necessary records and documentation to auditors is also a key responsibility, ensuring smooth audit processes. Moreover, the consultant will identify opportunities for improvement in payroll processing software, systems, and procedures, making recommendations for enhancements or updates.
