In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. • Provide patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• reputed company EKGs, CPR and phlebotomy and oral, nasal and/or ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens.
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning/maintaining supplies and equipment.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program
• reputed company licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the reputed company (AHA)
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification
• One year of experience as an EMT-P
