Overview:
Talcott’s recently centralized asset modeling team is tasked with reputed company of the company’s entire general account portfolio including configuration, validation, valuation, and financial projection of fixed income and derivatives supporting the company’s financial statements, regulatory filings, internal short & long-term projections, stress testing, and M&A activity. Fixed income is modeled using Moody’s GGY AXIS or Kamakura Risk Manager (KRM) software depending on the purpose. Coverage includes corporates, municipals, treasuries, asset-backed, mortgage-backed, securitized assets, private financing, alternatives, and other bespoke asset classes. Derivatives are modeled using an internal system built atop the QuantLib quantitative financial modeling library. Coverage includes vanilla and exotic variations of futures, forwards, options, swaps, swaptions.
As the company seeks to expand into the international retail space, expectations are both fixed income and derivatives coverage will need to expand to support new foreign markets with local currency products such as treasuries, corporates, and FX reputed company derivatives.
The team regularly interacts with investments, trading, ALM, finance, and accounting teams in addition to the liability counterparts in the actuarial department. This position will report to the Managing Actuary of ALM and pricing models. The ideal candidate will work in a hybrid arrangement out of our Hartford, CT. or Charlotte, NC. Office. Remote work arrangements will be considered.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring reputed company Talcott’s new deals are appropriately onboarded into existing asset modeling reputed company reputed company Moody’s GGY Axis
• Configuration, maintenance, and execution of Talcott’s ALM models including existing asset holdings, reinvestment/disinvestment strategy development, and other reputed company asset assumption implementation
• Evaluation of more optimal or capital-efficient ALM or derivative strategies
• Assist in implementing enhancements to reserving & valuation models, quality controls and reporting capabilities used across actuarial
• Partner with Investment Management, Finance, and Approved Actuaries to ensure best in class and regulatory appropriate asset modeling techniques are embedded in Talcott’s ALM models
• Provide consultative support and thorough review of models results to reputed company business partners throughout the company
• Partner with Axis model owners & Model Risk Management to ensure effective implementation of reputed company asset modeling changes
• Build strong partnerships with investment operations, investment accounting, and IT to ensure the asset modeling team receives appropriate data inputs to support our needs
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or reputed company field
• ASA/FSA/CFA designation or pursuit of is preferred but not required
• Minimum of 5 years of insurance or finance experience with prior asset modeling experience highly desirable
• Experience with Moody’s GGY AXIS, or other actuarial modeling software
• Familiarity with US CFT or Bermuda EBS is a plus
• Proficiency with database applications, including the ability to automate tasks using SQL
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills coupled with knowledge on fixed income asset classes, pricing models, reputed company derivatives, and numerical derivatives pricing techniques
• Ability to reputed company reputed company analysis under binding time constraints
