Imperative Recruiting is a 3rd party recruiting agency working on behalf of Longplay: Longplay is an e-commerce marketing agency focused on retention to drive scalable, sustainable and profitable growth of DTC brands. Providing compelling copy is crucial to the successful execution of Longplay’s client campaigns. We are excited to grow our team with a reliable, energetic and eager Jr Copywriter that will be responsible for copywriting, editing and optimization. Ideal Candidate: You have a strong understanding of email marketing copywriting (as opposed to content writing, etc.) and you are well-versed in the optimization tactics that drive sales, and understand that not every email should be a direct sale but more education based and informative to help drive sales overtime. You have a proven track record of writing compelling copy that captures a brand, connects with their audience authentically and is able to balance several brands at one time. You’re always looking for new ways to resonate with an audience and you have a strong understanding of the intricacies of email copywriting, and are always working to stay at the front of the trends that all of your brands and their industries are experiencing.

Responsibilities

Summary Copywriting:

  • All emails, SMS and projects are formatted properly, using templates if provided
  • Owning the brand voice for all assigned clients, and staying on top of their preferences and industry trends
  • Maintaining copy guides for assigned clients as new feedback comes in
  • Consistently applying universal Longplay copy standards
  • Implementing feedback with fidelity
  • Copy is error-free and ready for review within one round of edits
  • Creating copy for email content campaigns, promotions/product launches & automated flows for e-commerce brands

Editing & Optimization:

  • Providing feedback & support to other copywriters
  • Providing feedback on storyboards and offering suggestions
  • Interacting directly with clients to implement their edits and seek copy approval
  • Monitoring the growth & strengths/weaknesses of the writing team to look for areas of improvement
  • Ensure all copy has zero errors and are up to Longplay standards with regard to the strategic goals and creative direction
  • You create emails that users are excited to open and you leave them wanting more.
  • Ensure all editor and client edits are documented in the copy guide so they’re continuously implemented in the future copy so we’re constantly learning & improving
  • Communicate constructive feedback to other team members to improve our workflow and outcomes
  • Working directly with the Email Strategist to develop hypotheses & tests to optimize copy performance (eg. headers, CTAs, subject lines, body copy etc.)

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in copywriting, preferably in email marketing or digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or Constant Contact is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong writing skills: Ability to write concise, persuasive, and conversion-focused copy.
  • Attention to detail: Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Creative thinking: Ability to generate fresh, creative ideas tailored to email marketing.
  • Adaptability: Ability to write for a variety of industries and audience segments, adjusting tone and voice accordingly.
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset: Understanding of basic email marketing metrics and how to adjust content based on data.
