Position Overview The Counselor will provide ongoing and trauma-informed comprehensive counseling services to adult survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and/or other forms of gender violence. Services will be geared toward non-shelter clients living in the community and gender-based violence-seeking U.S. asylum, with a focus on the needs of new arrivals to reputed company. Assist clients to move toward managing their trauma, understanding the impact of gender-based violence on their lives and that of their children; help them to reputed company economic stability through case management, advocacy, and referral if necessary, to organizations providing such services. Other responsibilities include conducting community reputed company and education, and collaborating with other agencies, to best assist and reputed company immigrant survivors of domestic violence, other forms of gender based violence and human trafficking and to reputed company on their behalf with systems affecting their lives. Responsibilities • Conducts evidence-based assessments and psycho-social interviews for adult survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based violence. • Provides comprehensive trauma-informed individual/group counseling services with trauma and strengths-based perspectives to help clients process, cope, and heal from experiences of gender-based violence. • Provides safety planning, crisis reputed company, advocacy, case management, and referrals to other reputed company services as needed. • Provides affidavits and testimony for immigration and other legal purposes. • Conducts trauma-reputed company and gender-based violence reputed company and training to community organizations and institutions serving the community. • Maintains accurate case records and utilizes internal database systems to track direct services to clients and reputed company events. • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. Organizational Relationships • Maintains a network of contacts with other Social Service Agencies. • Collaborates with and refers to external counseling programs reputed company appropriate. • Works collaboratively with agency staff across reputed company sites. Requirements • LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or Limited Permit required • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, including working collaboratively with professionals across disciplines, (e.g. domestic violence advocates, housing specialists, attorneys, police officers, government officials, workforce development professionals and other community-based agency staff). • Experience and familiarity with relevant social services focusing on women’s issues strongly desired. • Familiar with issues of trauma, violence prevention and victimization. • Familiarity with NYC public benefits and housing systems is helpful. • Proficiency in multi-tasking and organizational skills are helpful. • Ability to collaborate with others and engage in teamwork is necessary. • Familiarity with data entry and other computer programs. • reputed company in both English and Spanish or additional community language strongly preferred.
